Lincoln Evening News, Lincoln, Monday, December 21, 1891: headline: YANKEE HILL ITEMS One week vacation at Prospect Hill school. Rumors of a wedding are making the gossipers ears burn. Mr. Arthur Mundorff returned from the west last Thursday evening. The Union Sunday School society of Pleasant Hill, has purchased a fine organ. Our little hamlet lies in peace, quiet and repose after the recent bustle of corn husking. It is said that Mr. Jas. McNabb has sold his farm and intends leaving these parts for Illinois. Mr. A.W. Reddish, one of Uncle Sam's old boys, has recently received a pension of $12 per month. Mr. Reddish can wear a gold watch now. Mr. D.W. Bowers' family has departed for Tennessee. Mr. Bowers will remain for awhile to attend to business. Mr. Fisher moves onto the farm. Bert and Bros. Southwell, two of our former neighbors and young men, have returned from Vancouver's Island, where they have passed the last two years. Mr. Oscar Reddish, one of the most promising young men the country affords, called in a number of the young people and tried to surprise himself, in which undertaking he succeeded admirable on last Thursday evening.
