LINCOLN STATE JOURNAL, Saturday, February 9, 1924: OLD RESIDENT IS DEAD Henry C. HAASE, Who Had Lived in County for Nearly Fifty Years, Answers Summons. Henry Charles HAASE, sixty-four years old, a long time resident of Lancaster county died at his home at Denton, Neb., at 12:45 p.m. Friday. His death was sudden and a surprise to his many friends. He has lived in this county for the past forty-six years and has resided in Denton for sixteen years. He was a retired farmer. He went out to pump some water Friday noon and dropped dead. He is survived by a wife and ten children. The sons are: William H., Robert J., John A., of Denton; Albert F., of Prairie Home; Benjamin C., of Lincoln. The daughters are: Ida H. SCOTT and Miss Minnie HAASE, of Lincoln; Marie, Anna and Carrie of Denton. Four brothers are: Fred of Denton; Frank of Reynolds; Aaron and William, of Yankee Hill. Two sisters are: Mrs. Rudolph KLEIN of Washington; Mrs. J.W. MELSON of Lincoln. The body is being held at the home at Denton pending funeral arrangements. (Note: another obit found in the Lincoln Star, 9 Feb 1924) states he had been pumping water and after going in the house told his wife that he did not feel well.
