Lincoln Evening News, Thursday, September 23, 1897: headline: AROUND ROKEBY Mrs. John Shaner of Iowa is visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs. Adam Smith of this place. A.F. Steinhausen shipped a lot of sheep from Denton Monda night. They were billed for Omaha. D.L. Smith and C.V. Redish are making extensive preparations for a trip through the south. The will go in a buggy and will be gone several weeks. A.W. Reddish and wife returned from an extended visit in New York state last Thursday. Wm. Ames and wife will start in a few days for a visit in almost all of the eastern states. They will return about Christmas. Mr. Ames takes his kodak with him and will bring back views of his old home and childhood surroundings. Mrs. Press Kauffman of Mt. Pleasant, Ia., is spending the week with her parents near Rokeby.
